Building new telescopes: With current telescopes, we can see galaxies as they existed 1 billion years after the Big Bang. Discuss innovations that could be made with new telescopes in order to see even further.

Answer to Question 1

Answer should primarily focus on the need to build larger telescopes, and mention the advantages of placing this telescope in space (avoiding atmospheric distortion and absorption, primarily)

Answer to Question 2

A collision between two small galaxies may produce a merger into a larger galaxy. Collision between a large and small galaxy may, if it is a grazing collision, produce a spiral galaxy. Two large galaxies colliding may produce a radio galaxy and eventually a giant elliptical.
