Answer to Question 1

FALSE

Answer to Question 2

Theory says that in a Type II supernova a small remnant of the core should remain as a neutron star. If you trace the expanding gas of the Crab nebula backwards in space and time you find all the gas started at one point a little less than 1000 years ago. We find a pulsar at that point, which is a neutron star. In 1054 A.D. the Chinese recorded a supernova in the sky at the location we now find this pulsar.
