Does a planetary nebula have anything to do with planets? Explain.

  Astronomers, however, cannot adjust the properties of the objects they study. In what sense, then, can astronomers still conduct experiments?

While these nebulae expelled by highly evolved red giants might look like greenish disks in some cases, they have nothing to do with planets.

Astronomers can see how well their ideas match existing data, and can make predictions for the outcome of future observations.
