A 3.  resistor is connected in parallel with a 6.  resistor. This pair is then connected in series with a 4.  resistor. These resistors are connected to a battery.
 
  What will happen if the 3.  resistor burns out, i.e., becomes an infinite resistance?
  A) The current in the 4.  resistor will drop to zero.
  B) The current in the 6.  resistor will increase.
  C) The current provided by the battery will not change.
  D) The power dissipated in the circuit will increase.

Question 2

Ten meter long steel railroad rails are laid end to end, with no space between, on a hot day when the temperature is 115.F.
 
  Six months later the temperature has dropped to -2.F. How much space now exists between each rail?
