Answer to Question 1

The white zones are upwellings, where ammonia ice forms as the currents expand and cool off; the cool gases descend into the darker belts, where hydrogen sulfide adds color and causes them to appear brown.

Answer to Question 2

This statement is fine. A light-second is 300,000 kilometers, so it simply says that we'll someday build spaceships that can travel at a speed of 300,000 km/hr.
