How are Cepheids and RR Lyrae stars different?

Cepheids are large mass variable stars with a definite relationship between period and luminosity, which can be as high as thousands of suns. RR Lyrae stars are low mass variable stars with periods under one day, and all have about the same luminosity, about 100 suns.
