Answer to Question 1

The correlation was observed experimentally first The anchovy catch plummets
sometimes. It was found that this takes place when ENSO conditions (large-scale changes
in sea surface temperatures over the entire Pacific Ocean) occur. In one case, the winds push
a mound of water to the western Pacific which pushes the cooler water near the west coast
of South America upward, and fish eat the upwelling nutrients and the population surges. In
the opposite condition, the cooler waters along the coast are pushed downward, and the fish
population crashes.

Answer to Question 2

Aerosols such as those released in volcanic eruptions do affect climate because
these particles reflect sunlight, causing a cooling effect.
