How long would each of the materials on the list in Table 10.1 last at the 2000 use rate assuming the reserves given in 1968 were still correct? Compare your answers to those given in Table 10.3

Answer to Question 1

We have the following from that table filled in in Table IM10.1 on the next page
below. The table's fourth column of numbers may be filled in by dividing the numbers in
the second column by those in the third column. Some of the values from Table 10.3
correspond and these are inserted in the fifth column.
There are clearly differences, some from a decrease in reserves due to exploitation of
minerals after 1968 . Cobalt is the only mineral that is even near the predicted values from
the 2000 use rate.
