Answer to Question 1

There were no home air conditioners in the 1930s. Electricity use was lower in
summer than in winter. Now, peak use occurs in summer because of the air conditioning.

Answer to Question 2

It is never possible in a finite system to sustain growth forever. Growth will occur
until it bumps up against the limits. At that point, it is no longer sustainable.
