The relativistic factor ( used in conjunction with the Lorentz transformation provides that
A.an object of length L measured in a frame at rest is measured to be L when that object is moving with respect to the rest frame.
B.if two frames are aligned at t = t' = 0 but the 'primed' frame moves at some constant velocity, an interval of time t in the rest frame will be measured as a time t/ in the moving frame.
C.increased velocities decrease the value of
D.a particle moving faster than the speed of light gives an imaginary relativistic factor.

Question 2

Samus is exploring the planet Zebes in the star system Metroid Prime (where the laws of physics are the same as on Earth and in our universe) in a ship moving at constant velocity. She turns on her headlamps as she encounters some strange fog. Ridley, the villain lying in wait, is at rest with respect to Samus. The speed of the light from Samus's headlamps as measured by Ridley depends most importantly on

the speed of Samus's ship
the speed of light in the fog
the speed of Samus with respect to the ether
the total addition of speeds of Samus's ship, the planet Zebes, and the system Metroid Prime
the speed of light in a vacuum

Answer to Question 1

D.
The relativistic factor depends on one over the square root of one minus the velocity squared over the speed of light squared, so as velocity approaches and passes the speed of light, the factor approaches infinity and then becomes imaginary.

Answer to Question 2

The speed of propagation of any wave through a medium depends most importantly on the medium itself. All observers measure the speed of light to be the same in inertial frames, and since both Samus and Ridley are in the same medium, they should measure the same speed of light.

Children with strabismus (crossed eyes) can be treated. They are not able to outgrow this condition on their own, but with help, it can be more easily corrected at a younger age. It is important for infants to have eye examinations as early as possible in their development and then another at age 2 years.

Since 1988, the CDC has reported a 99% reduction in bacterial meningitis caused by Haemophilus influenzae, due to the introduction of the vaccine against it.

People with alcoholism are at a much greater risk of malnutrition than are other people and usually exhibit low levels of most vitamins (especially folic acid). This is because alcohol often takes the place of 50% of their daily intake of calories, with little nutritional value contained in it.
