Answer to Question 1

Answer: Wave frequency and period are reciprocals of each other: That is, f = 1/T and T = 1/f, where f is frequency and period is T. So for the three given frequencies, (a) T = 1/f = 1/(10 Hz) = 0.10 s, (b) T = 1/f = 1/(0.2 Hz) = 5 s, (c) T = 1/f = 1/(60 Hz) = 0.167 s.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: All waves are vibrations in space and time. In a transverse wave, the vibrations are perpendicular to the direction of wave travel. Vibrations in a longitudinal wave are along (or parallel to) the direction of wave travel. Examples of transverse waves are vibrating strings and electromagnetic waves. Examples of longitudinal waves are sound, those in a to-and-fro vibrating slinky, and some types of earthquake waves.
