Answer to Question 1

What types of negotiation occur in counseling? What is principled negotiation, and how can it occur? What is negotiation with ones self and what is its role in counseling? Create a dialogue with a client who has a history of non-suicidal self harm and who is now experiencing high levels of stress. The client insists on keeping self-harm as a possible alternative for coping with stress. How might you, as the counselor, negotiate a safety contract?

Answer to Question 2

What is the role of a just society with regard to invitations to self-challenge? Suppose, for example, you are working with a client who has difficulty trusting everyone and anyone, including you and, as a result, is reluctant to be fully involved in counseling. How might you respond and why?
