Answer to Question 1

In a new group situation, the leader can anticipate that some members may be anxious about what other members think of them or about sharing personal information. By providing encouragement and support and normalizing that new situations are often uncomfortable for people, members' anxiety may lessen. Nonverbal signals of support, such as a caring face, a warm voice, and an open posture can also help members to feel more at ease.
