If the leader sees that a change of purpose is needed, he or she should first discuss the need for the change during group time. The leader should also suggest how the group would alter its purpose and what that would mean for members. The members need to understand the leader's intent behind the change and consent to the change. The leader should also be aware that it may take more than one session for the change to fully occur.
