Briefly discuss the reasons why information processing skills are emphasized in the Trait-and-Factor and Person-Environment-Fit model as well as in the Cognitive Information Processing model.

1 . Both models emphasize that clients must be able to appropriately process information in the counseling process.
2 . Client and counselor are to uncover career and personal problems that could limit one's ability to process information.
3 . Client problems could include affective concerns, self-knowledge deficits, emotional instability, dysfunctional thinking, depression, and other psychological disorders.
4 . Unrealistic and faulty beliefs could make it difficult for clients to develop accurate perceptions of work environments and realistic appraisals of self and occupational requirements.
