Stress inoculation training (SIT) assumes that
 
  (a) if people can learn to cope with mild stressors, they will eventually be able to
   cope with more severe ones.
  (b) clients need to re-experience stressors in order to successfully cope with them.
  (c) most client goals can be accomplished in 6-8 weekly sessions.
  (d) external reinforcements are more important than internal reinforcements..
