What is a nonparametric test?

The average weight of a 4 year old male is 40 lbs with a standard deviation of 6 lbs. What would be the probability that the average weight from a random sample of 50 boys at this age would have be greater than 41 lbs?

A nonparametric test is one that makes no assumptions about the specific shape of the population from which a sample is drawn.
