The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury that is responsible for tax collection and tax law enforcement. The IRS is responsible for interpretation and enforcement of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). The IRS also adopts treasury regulations.
