Answer to Question 1

URL stands for uniform resource locator, which is similar to an electronic citation. Almost every resource on the Internet is identified by a URL. Http is the abbreviation for hypertext transfer protocol, which is an interface program that enables computers to communicate. Hypertext is a system by which disparate objects, such as text and graphics, can be linked. A protocol is a system of formats and rules. The World Wide Web is a hypertext-based system through which specially formatted documents are accessible on the Internet.

Answer to Question 2

Often, having retrieved search results, you would like to quickly locate certain key information. For example, suppose that your search resulted in a list of twenty cases relevant to your topic. Westlaw's Locate in Results tool allows you to scan the documents in your search results for terms that were not included in your query, and in that way narrow the search results. When browsing through search results, it is important to remember that the time spent using the service is costly. If you have found a case or cases that appear to be on point, you can print them out (or download them) for further study.H

Dogs have been used in studies to detect various cancers in human subjects. They have been trained to sniff breath samples from humans that were collected by having them breathe into special tubes. These people included 55 lung cancer patients, 31 breast cancer patients, and 83 cancer-free patients. The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).
