Answer to Question 1

They believed that technique was meaningful only in terms of subject
matter. In fact, it was the New Wave that popularized the idea that what a movie says
is inextricably bound up with how it's said. They insisted that editing styles ought to
be determined not by fashion, the limitations of technology, or dogmatic
pronouncements, but by the essence of the subject matter itself.

Answer to Question 2

early life experiences that aid the person in answering the question. Flashbacks are a
standard filmmaking technique that allows the restructuring of time by jumping
between the past and present to fill in gaps in the narrative, or disorient the viewer.
