Answer to Question 1

The different between a misdemeanor and a felony can be distinguished by the punishment associated with each. A misdemeanor is a minor crime usually punished with a short jail term, a community sanction and/or a fine. A felony is a serious offense that carries a penalty of imprisonment. The length of imprisonment might involve a sentence that is over a year long. Individuals who are convicted of felonies might also lose some of their political rights.
