Answer to Question 1

Answer: Answers will vary, but examples should include justifiable homicide, first-degree, second-degree, voluntary manslaughter, and involuntary manslaughter. Students could present their mini-examples to the class and have the remaining students determine which type of homicide the example was depicting. This can be used as a means of review and a means to check the student understanding of the concepts.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Answers will vary. Key issues to be addressed may be the extent of the injuries, and the use of a weapon. Most likely the perpetrator will be male. Assaults tend to be spontaneous and fueled by emotions. Fifty percent of the time the offender knows the victim.
