John Braithwaite  uses opportunity, subculture, social control and social learning along with labeling to get differential shaming.
Cultural transmission of values within subculture may pressure youth to conform with deviant group  if there is a tipping point, youth anticipates shaming.
Two types: Integrative and Disintegrative
Integrative allows person who is shamed and repentant back into fold of community as audience separates good person from bad act
For rehabilitation to occur conventional societys shaming must be more feared than subcultures.
