Most scholars will agree that actus reus, mens rea, and concurrence, are sufficient elements to describe the legal concept of crime. Some scholars, however, will argue that Western law is more complex and requires four additional elements to fully understand the complexities of crime. Explain in detail these four additional elements.

a. The distinction between causation in fact, and proximate cause.
b. The definition of the but for rule.
c. The need for some identifiable harm, or a resulting harm from an action.
d. An explanation that behavior cannot be criminal if no law exists that defines it as such.
e. A discussion on attendant circumstances, or facts surrounding and event such as time and place.
f. The existence of attendant circumstances is required in order for all of the elements of the crime to be met.
