Answer to Question 1

Answer: Answer should include: Potentially the most important job of a warden is people management. His/her treatment and decisions affecting inmates can help or harm communication, relationships between inmates, and the safety of all those employed or incarcerated. In addition, the warden must make decisions that are fair but reasonable so not to insight feelings of bias between staff and/or inmates.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: The War on Drugs influenced the passage of legislation and sentencing policies that were punitive and required longer incarceration sentences. In addition, lower level drug crimes were now punished with prison sentences instead of probation.
