presented to excuse or justify the conduct of the defendant. One defendant use the Twinkie defense,
asserting the sugar made him do it. Other syndromes such as XYY, battered womens syndrome,
Affluenza, and PMS have all been used to mitigate criminality. Juries and judged have had a hard time
