Answer to Question 1

Because of its construction (metal to metal moving parts), chain couplings require lubrication. The exception is the nylon chain coupling which doesn't need lubrication. (No metal to metal moving parts.

Answer to Question 2

(1) chain couplings, (2) gear couplings, and (3) grid couplings.
