Answer to Question 1

The direction the wires are twisted compared to the direction the strands are twisted in called the wire rope lay.

Answer to Question 2

Store rope in a clean, well ventilated area. Wood grate shelves work well for storage. You may also hang coiled rope on large diameter pegs.
