Answer: When a caregiver is unreliablefor example, when he is depressed or abuses drugsthe child is likely to develop anxiety about relationships. Someone with anxious attachment is nervous that the other person will not love him back.

Answer: Secure attachment develops when a child's caregiver is a source of comfort and security; the child learns to trust others. When she feels scared, she knows the caregiver will provide help and comfort. Thus, the child feels ready to explore the environment.
