Answer: You cannot just ask people about their own unconscious, but rather would need to discover unconscious thoughts in more indirect ways. You might examine dreams or ask someone to free-associate. You might look at projective tests such as the Rorschach inkblots, measuring reaction time to words or images, or you could examine transference.
