Answer to Question 1

Toothed whales are active predators with a high brain-weight-to-body-weight ratio who can locate and even stun prey using echolocation. Baleen whales filter krill and other zooplankton from water near the surface. Both of these marine mammals are insulated by thick layers of blubber, breathe through nostrils on top of the head, and form complex social groupings.

Answer to Question 2

A fish's drag is determined by frontal area, body contour, and surface texture. The most effective anti-drag shape is the tapering torpedo-like body plan common to faster swimming fish.
