Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
Deep water organisms have low metabolic rates because of the cold water. This allows the organisms
to require relatively little food. Their slow movement is partly due to their low metabolism.
Information can be found in the section Examples of Marine Communities.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: A
Sessile organisms remain attached to substrate during intense wave activity. They tend to have
rounded or low profile shells which deflect the forces of the water around them. Information can be
found in the section Examples of Marine Communities.
