There is no photosynthesis occurring in the deep water because of the permanent darkness. For the
most part, consumers rely on the biological activity above them for nutrients. There are some areas

Steno translates to mean narrow. Stenothermal organisms have a narrow tolerance of temperature
changes. Many tropical species are stenothermal and function better in heated environments.
