Answer to Question 1

ANS: T
Taxonomy has changed over time. Sometimes organisms were classified by their morphology rather
than their characteristics. The current system was developed by Linnaeus. He set out to categorize the
entire natural world. Information can be found in the section Oceanic Life Is Classified by
Evolutionary Heritage.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: T
The runoff from the land is able to support large plankton blooms. Nitrates, the highest of the nutrients
in runoff waters, are used in various agricultural settings and enter the ocean. Some of these areas can
become oxygen depleted due to the sudden bloom of plankton dying and bacteria decomposing them.
Information can be found in the section Elements Cycle between Living Organisms and Their
Surroundings.

These people included 55 lung cancer patients, 31 breast cancer patients, and 83 cancer-free patients. The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).
