The Atlantic has a thicker layer of pelagic sediments than the Pacific for a couple of reasons. First,
there are more rivers that feed sediment into the ocean. Also, the Atlantic has a smaller area than the
Pacific. The Pacific has more topography and trenches for sediments to become trapped in. The
topography allows less sediment to reach deep pelagic depths. Information can be found in the section
