- Environment: external influences that affect actions, beliefs, and attitudes.
- Training academy: interaction with trainees and training by instructors may influence whether or not a recruit knows how to behave ethically.
- Home life: views parents instilled during formative years may affect actions on the job.
- Individual beliefs: personal beliefs may affect actions on the job.
- Citizens: conduct and demeanor towards the officer may affect the actions of an officer on the job.
- Stress: if not managed effectively it can affect an officer emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
