Answer to Question 1

Primariness is the belief that one's sexual and emotional outlet is limited to one's spouse. While results vary from study to study, recent findings of American sexual behavior are reporting lower percentages of unfaithfulness. In addition, about 90 of the public say it is always or almost always wrong for a married person to have sex outside of marriage.

Answer to Question 2

A court settlement means that the couple gives up control over the outcome of the divorce to the judge in a court of law. Mediation allows the couple to share their ideas about the outcome in the presence of a professional who will help keep the negotiations on track. The mediator can diffuse the situation, offer suggestions about new ways of thinking, and help the couple reach decisions.
