Answer to Question 1

Sexual needs refer to the legitimate outlet for sexual energy that is a state-mandated part of marriage. Material needs are the needs for breadwinning and homemaking that are essential for survival. Psychological needs are met when your spouse supplies personal validity and relevance as a confirmation of your existence.

Answer to Question 2

Divorced men experience a rise in their standard of living in the first year because men earn more than women and often don't pay child support. Divorced women experience a decline because they no longer share the man's higher earning power and must rely on child or spousal support.
