Answer to Question 1

Some directors feel uncomfortable with the hierarchy of the traditional structure, with the powerful director controlling the creative process, and therefore prefer a collaborative approach to creation. This type of collaboration is challenging because, in order to succeed, the creative ensemble must share goals and expectations about the process and the end product. The ensemble must have a common artistic vocabulary and methodology.
