Answer to Question 1

Teachers are responsible for administering the initial emergency care for any life- threatening injuries in order to save lives, reduce pain and suffering, and avoid further harm. This includes contacting emergency medical services if their assistance is needed. The child's family should also be contacted once the child has been stabilized so they can arrange for any additional treatment that may be necessary.
