Answer to Question 1

To provide the maximum protection in the early childhood education environment, teachers should be prepared for the possibility that an emergency may occur. Teachers must plan for emergencies, be prepared to handle emergencies, and be equipped with the training necessary to deal with life-threatening emergencies as they occur from the first warning sign of a disaster or emergency until the children have been reunited with their families. Having a plan and being prepared ahead of time can help teachers to respond correctly and quickly should an emergency take place.

Answer to Question 2

There are many indicators, including difficulty breathing; clutching the throat or chest; slurred, confused, or hesitant speech; a seizure; or a rash or hives that quickly appear.
