Answer to Question 1

ANSWER: Generate numerous alternatives. Encourage the child to generate alternatives. Discuss hypothetical situations and possible solutions to problems. Accept childrens contributions and decisions.

Answer to Question 2

ANSWER: Point out specific signs of peoples emotional expression, and tell the child what each means. Prompt older children to notice the cues themselves and tell you what they mean.
