ANSWER: use a multicultural curriculum (comment on the contributions of diverse people to the topic at hand, depict each group in a positive way, clearly communicate appreciation for all cultures); avoid sex-typed materials in the classroom; help each learner feel valued in your classroom; hold all learners to high, but reasonable standards (provide equal opportunities for success to all learners); avoid pushing students to represent their race, gender, or ethnic group; avoid microaggressions; be self-reflective about your attitudes toward other groups
