Evaluations can be used with parents and families by giving parents information about a childs behavior, progress, or problems; providing families with insights about the child; targeting areas in which the child may need help; and helping teachers plan parentteacher conferences.

Children are evaluated to establish a baseline, monitor the growth of individual children, plan for intervention and guidance, plan the curriculum, communicate with families, and provide information for making administrative decisions.
