Your 60-year-old female patient is alert and has respirations of 16 and a pulse of 92. The pulse oximeter reads 78 percent and gives a pulse rate of 30. What should you do first?
◦ Discontinue use of the pulse oximeter.
◦ Use a bag-valve mask to ventilate the patient.
◦ Increase the flow rate of oxygen to the patient.
◦ Check to see if the patient is wearing nail polish or has cold hands.
