A child excitedly tries to comment on something that occurred on the bus to school. He says, "The bus...the bus...the bus didn't stop..." What should be the response of his teacher?
◦ Ignore it—this is typical disfluency.
◦ Ask the parents to gently correct such disfluencies at home before they become more severe.
◦ Refer the child for further evaluation by a speech and language pathologist.
◦ Gently ask the child to slow down and start over when this occurs.
