Answer 1

c

Answer 2

The most effective way for students to address the question is to look at the issue of resistance as a continuum. At one end of the spectrum would be passive forms of resistance. Slaves broke tools and stole food. Riskier than passive resistance would be running away, though only a handful succeeded in winning permanent freedom. The most direct form of resistance was also the riskiest. Slaves carried out several rebellions, the bloodiest being the Nat Turner Revolt in 1831 . Strong students will also stress that the emergence of a distinct African American culture was in itself a form of resistance.
