Calvin was a premature baby who had a lack of oxygen during his early days in the NICU. The lack of oxygen resulted in some key changes in his brain that made him somewhat more difficult, and he is quite prone to emotional outbursts. Because of these behaviors, his parents often become frustrated and use some rather ineffective parenting strategies. The combination of his inability to self-regulate his emotion and his parents' response to that have resulted in Calvin having problems with inattention and hyperactivity. This pathway illustrates the model of disruptive behavior disorders.
