Answer to Question 1

Student answers should include:
- assessing risk of suicide is critical in mood disorders and often focuses on details of a suicide plan, access to weapons, and support from others
- addressing suicidal behavior, sometimes via hospitalization, is a critical aspect of treating people with mood disorders
- in addition to hospitalization, therapists may also use a no-suicide contract, although some would argue that a commitment to a treatment statement would be more effective
