 Emergence  parent input is critical to understanding developmental course of behaviors/symptoms; parents are viewed as valid reporters
 Assessment/diagnosis  parents/families are best resource child has and best reporter of child's behaviors
 Treatment  parents/families are best resource and advocates for child in short-term and long-term; must be partners in interventions as they should be generalized across settings
